Collision Insurance Information

Oftentimes, the most difficult part of a car collision aftermath is handling all of the various insurance responsibilities. You have to find an auto body shop, obtain an estimate, and hope that your insurance provider agrees to pay. If you have any questions about the insurance process, just give us a call. We make it a point to work with every insurance provider, and we have years of experience collaborating with your insurance company on the estimate and value of the vehicle. We work with many service providers as well as many parts of Wisconsin. Whether you are in Washington County, Waukesha County or Milwaukee County, we are ready to assist you with our collision services. If you are in West Bend, Franklin, Cudahy, Hartford, Brookfield, Waukesha, Milwaukee or Oconomowoc, we work with you and insurance companies to help you with the aftermath of a car collision.

After a crash happens, we can help you arrange towing to our shop. We’ll talk through our process with you, and we can also get you set up with a rental car while your car is being repaired. Be sure to talk to your insurance agency to find out if they will cover the cost of both towing and obtaining a rental car for even more savings.

You Can Use Any Collision Center You Want To Use

Many people think that they have to use whichever car repair facility their insurance company refers them to -- this isn’t the case. You are legally allowed to have your car at any licensed repair shop you choose.

This confusion likely comes from the fact that some auto repair facility's work with insurance companies to offer special discounts to customers who are referred. For instance, if your provider suggests a certain auto repair facility, he may provide a cheaper estimate for you as a discount because you were referred from the insurance company. The thing is, if your vehicle repair is covered by insurance anyways, the lower rate only helps your insurance provider and not you; don’t feel pressured to use a repair service that you don’t want to.

The most important thing is finding a technician that you trust and who will do a good job. If that ends up costing your insurance company a few extra dollars, that’s fine!

The Process

After the accident occurs and your car has arrived at our shop, we’ll get to work on determining the estimated cost of the repair. Our team knows how to interact with insurance providers, and we know what to look for--leave the heavy lifting to us when it comes to working with your insurance company.

Insurance adjusters will often try and reduce the cost absorbed by the insurance company (it’s their job). You need auto technicians who are fair, understand the process, and will help you get the most out of your insurance.

After we’ve agreed on an estimate, our technicians will get to work. After they’ve disassembled your vehicle, they may have to revise the estimate--that information will be sent to you and the insurance company for approval.

We will then take care of the heavy repairs first. This usually involve realigning the frame or working with the chassis in some way. We then work our way outward, finishing by touching up the vehicle’s aesthetics and reassembling the door handles and other exterior components.
If you have any questions about our insurance process, please let us know. It’s a lot to digest, and we’re here to help you each step of the way.
